आईपीएल 2024 की शुरुआत से पहले सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद ने बड़ा बदलाव करते हुए पैट कमिंस को नया कप्तान नियुक्त किया है. पिछले सीजन 2023 में कमान संभालने वाले एडेन मार्कराम को फ्रेंचाइजी ने बर्खास्त कर दिया है। आईपीएल 2024 के लिए हुए मिनी ऑक्शन में कमिंस को हैदराबाद ने 20.50 करोड़ रुपये की भारी कीमत पर खरीदा था। इस कीमत पर बिककर कमिंस दूसरे नंबर पर आ गए हैं मिचेल स्टार्क के बाद आईपीएल इतिहास में 24 करोड़ में बिकने वाले सबसे महंगे खिलाड़ी.. सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद ने सोशल मीडिया के जरिए नए कप्तान की घोषणा की। हैदराबाद ने सोशल मीडिया पर एक पोस्ट किया और लिखा, “हमारे नए कप्तान पैट कमिंस।”
आपको बता दें कि, एडेन मार्कराम की कप्तानी में सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद ने आईपीएल 2023 में बेहद खराब प्रदर्शन किया। मार्कराम की कप्तानी में टीम 14 लीग मैचों में से सिर्फ 4 ही जीत सकी. टीम अंक तालिका में सबसे निचले (10वें) स्थान पर थी. पिछले सीजन के खराब प्रदर्शन के बाद टीम मैनेजमेंट ने यह बदलाव किया है. कमिंस मौजूदा समय के सबसे सफल कप्तानों में से एक हैं. अपनी कप्तानी में कमिंस ने वर्ल्ड कप 2023 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया को चैंपियन बनाया था। तो क्या वह सीएसके, एमआई, आरसीबी जैसी दिग्गज टीमों के खिलाफ हैदराबाद के लिए ऐसा कर पाएंगे, यह देखना दिलचस्प होगा।
