पार्टी के एक वरिष्ठ नेता ने रविवार को कहा कि इंडियन नेशनल लोकदल की हरियाणा राज्य इकाई के प्रमुख नफे सिंह राठी और एक पार्टी कार्यकर्ता की राज्य के झज्जर जिले में कुछ अज्ञात हमलावरों ने गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी। पूर्व विधायक राठी यात्रा कर रहे थे जब झज्जर के बहादुरगढ़ कस्बे में हमलावरों ने उनकी एसयूवी पर गोलियां बरसाईं। समाचार एजेंसी पीटीआई की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, राठी द्वारा सुरक्षा के लिए नियुक्त किए गए तीन निजी बंदूकधारी भी हमले में घायल हो गए।
इनेलो नेता अभय चौटाला ने राज्य सरकार पर राठी की जान को खतरा होने के बावजूद सुरक्षा प्रदान करने में विफल रहने का आरोप लगाया और मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल खट्टर और राज्य के गृह मंत्री अनिल विज के इस्तीफे की मांग की। “दो बार के विधायक, जो हमारी राज्य इकाई के प्रमुख हैं, को सुरक्षा प्रदान नहीं की गई थी। लिखित रूप में, वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों और राज्य के गृह मंत्री को ज्ञापन दिया गया था कि उन्हें धमकियों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है और उन्हें सुरक्षा प्रदान की जानी चाहिए, “लोकसभा चुनाव से पहले हुए इस हमले पर विपक्षी दलों ने तीखी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त की, जिन्होंने भाजपा शासित राज्य में कानून व्यवस्था खराब होने का आरोप लगाया।
